Sky of Red Poppies by Zohreh GhahremaniMy rating: 3 of 5 stars
The story starts by describing the blossoming of an innocent and casual friendship between two schoolgirls growing up in Iran in the 1960's. The girls haven't much in common, one is from a deeply religious family, the other is from a more secular, more prominent family. They go their separate ways until the actions of the one brings unwanted tragedy on the other. Profound and deeply moving, the story is a testament to friendship and family.
