My rating: 1 of 5 stars
No. Just no.
The first chapter was excellent. It was the setup for what could have been a fantastic story. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The rest of the book was just stupid and poorly executed. I just couldn't make myself like the main character. Yes, her life was tragic, and bad things happened to her, but that didn't excuse the annoying mannerisms - such as calling her father by his full name throughout the entire book. Sure, the author had an explanation but by the time the explanation was proffered I just didn't care.
The protagonist got herself into a situation where she was doing things she didn't want to do because her friends told her that she had to (the titular 21 Dares). Weak. The therapist was "too cool for school" and other assorted 90's slang cliches. If it were me, I wouldn't have been able to take him seriously as a professional or take his advice.
Other than that one chapter I really didn't find anything redeeming about the story. Good thing it was a Kindle Unlimited title.
