Review: Pachinko

Pachinko Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved this book. It follows the trials and tribulations of the Korean Baek/Bando family through several generations as they deal with the Japanese occupation of their homeland.

The characters are thoughtful and well-written and compelling. At times it was hard to put down because I needed to know what was going to happen next. Not edge of the seat thrilling or anything like that just because I cared.

It did jump around and in places, it was difficult to figure out where and when we were in the setting but at least for me, it was easy enough to pick the thread back up and keep going. I don't give out a lot of five-star reviews but this was definitely one of my favorite reads of 2018.
