Review: Outside

Outside Outside by Shalini Boland
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Setting: Dystopian tale of an England shattered by mass terrorist attacks. The citizens have built perimeters around their towns for safety.

The Story: Riley's sister is murdered and she's determined to search for the killer herself. Riley feels that the authorities aren't doing enough so she and friend Luc leave home to drive cross-country in an armored ATV stopping at various settlements along the way. Plenty of setbacks and drama occur over the course of their trip. It really isn't safe to be outside the perimeter. Ultimately their trip comes to an end and Riley learns some hard truths.

The story was ok. It was post-apocalyptic lite. No zombies, flesh-eating viruses, or Mad Max style villans. It also didn't really grab me or make me care enough about the characters, the potential budding romance, or the outcome enough to pick up the next book in the series.

Pretty sure I picked it up as a Kindle first book in a series freebie.
