The Boys of the Dixie Pig by Stacy Childs

There was so much going on in this book it was like two books in one. A group of high school buddies get together to catch up. One is a doctor who specializes in cryogenics, another runs arms to foreign countries, the last two don't really do anything interesting. As the story progresses we learn more about the arms runner and the doctor and their stories become intertwined.

The arms runner is in trouble with the CIA, and several foreign interests and they all want him dead. The doctor has his own agenda, and is dabbling in reincarnation. The points of view switch back and forth in a dizzying pattern and the story gets more and more interlinked until it all comes together at the end.

I really enjoyed this book, I was first intrigued by the description of it being a medical action thriller. As I got further into the action I got sucked in and couldn't put it down.

The titular Dixie Pig is a restaurant where the friends would gather together and eat the house specialty, a trough of ice cream with loads of toppings. Sounds delicious! While not really important to the story, it added a degree of realism and tied the characters together.
